Born in New York & raised in the San Fernando Valley, California. Bruce Spiegel, no relation to the catalog, started with a Hofner Beatle Bass & Fender Jazz Bass in the ‘70’s in “The Valley.” Bruce’s got his performing start with popular straight-rock band, Out To Lunch, featuring guitarist Michael O’Neill who has been touring/playing in recent years with George Benson, Andrew Ford & David Garfield. Bruce auditioned for bassist on The Monkees, didn’t get the gig. Oh well. While living in Santa Cruz, Bruce performed with a trio fronted by vocalist Joyce Yarrow (yes, the late Peter Yarrow’s sister) doing the folk scene in the late 70’s & adding fire to her album on Pacific Arts “Jumping Mouse.” Played with Emmy Nominated composer Michael Silversher, composer of countless Disney film songs & film scores in the Bay area. In the 80’s, Bruce met Chris & Mark Petersen (Chris from Pure Prairie League), to form Bay Area Country Rock group, Sarabande, performing the same venues as the Garcia Brothers and Doobie Brothers. Bruce currently performs with: The Neil Deal, recognized as America’s #1 Neil Young & Crazy Horse Tribute band. The Bone Sharks and of course Dynamite Beat Puppy.
